We took over the operation of the Birgunj terminal in August 2020. It is located on an area of 94 acres. It operates six handling lines and a warehousing space of 4,20,000 square feet. This terminal has locational advantage as it is the only rail-linked container terminal connecting Nepal and India. The Nepal Inter Multi Modal Transport Development Board has developed the dry port to handle 219,652 TEU containers annually, along with a total of 1,685 ground lots for stacking the TEU’s containers.
The key commodities handled through this terminal are consumer goods, coal, cement, fertilizers, edible oil and steel. It benefits from the catchment area that comprises the entire nation of Nepal.
