Our Ponneri (Chennai) terminal commenced commercial operations in November 2025. It is located near Anuppampattu village in Ponneri Taluk, Tiruvallur District, on the northern outskirts of Chennai, on 82 acres of owned land. Its proximity to Chennai Port and the logistics corridors linking Tamil Nadu with Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and other southern regions enables efficient inland movement of cargo. It is strategically positioned near one of India’s largest industrial and consumption hubs. The terminal benefits from rising freight volumes generated by the region’s manufacturing and export‑oriented sectors. South India currently has limited commercial rail‑linked terminal infrastructure, particularly around Chennai, resulting in high dependence on road transport. (Source: CRISIL Report)
It is equipped with two rail handling lines and paved yard areas of 20 acres. This terminal handles containerised cargo as well as noncontainer cargo, including commodities such as iron ore pellets. The terminal has been developed to handle 68,438 TEUs, with 375 ground slots for container stacking.
